Terms of Service

Last updated: May 27, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

Dechained ("the Service") is operated by Dechained LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Dechained", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy by reference.

2. Description of Service

Dechained provides a gateway that lets agents route requests to AI model providers of your choice using credentials you supply (Bring Your Own Key, or BYOK). The Service forwards your requests to the selected provider, returns the response to your agent, and records metadata required for billing, analytics, and abuse prevention. For gateway traffic, we do not log, store, or train on the contents of your prompts, inputs, tool calls, or model outputs. If you use our built-in chat, we store those conversations so you can resume them; we never use them to train a model, and you can delete them at any time.

The Service is offered on a developmental basis. Features may be added, changed, or removed without notice as we improve the platform.

3. Eligibility and Account Registration

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. When you create an account, you must provide accurate information and keep it current. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, your provider credentials, and any agent credentials issued to you, and for all activity that occurs under your account. We reserve the right to approve, deny, or revoke access to the Service at our sole discretion.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree that you will:

  • Only use provider API keys (BYOK credentials) that you own or are explicitly authorized to use, and only for purposes permitted by the relevant provider's terms
  • Comply with the terms of service and acceptable use policies of every model provider you route traffic to through Dechained
  • Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose, to generate harmful or abusive content, or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
  • Not attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, including by overwhelming it with traffic, probing for vulnerabilities outside our responsible disclosure process, or circumventing rate limits
  • Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
  • Not resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service or its routing capabilities without our written consent
  • Not share your Dechained gateway credentials with parties who are not authorized to use your account
  • Not use the Service, or data obtained from it, to develop, train, or improve a product or service that competes with Dechained, including any AI gateway, routing, or model-aggregation service

In addition, you will not use the Service to generate, transmit, or solicit:

  • child sexual abuse material or content that sexualizes minors
  • non-consensual sexual content or intimate imagery of real people
  • instructions or assistance to design, manufacture, acquire, or deploy weapons capable of mass casualties (biological, chemical, nuclear, or radiological)
  • malware, ransomware, or instructions to attack systems you are not authorized to access
  • content intended to deceive voters, manipulate elections, or impersonate election officials
  • credential phishing, fraud, or content that impersonates a real person to deceive others
  • content that incites violence against, or harasses, individuals or protected groups

You will not use the Service from, or to send outputs to, any country, region, person, or entity subject to U.S. sanctions or export controls, and you will comply with all applicable export control laws when using the Service.

5. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

You supply your own API keys for upstream model providers. By supplying credentials for a model provider, you represent and warrant that you have a valid, current agreement with that provider, that you are authorized to use those credentials, and that your use of the Service to route traffic on those credentials complies with the provider's terms of service, acceptable use policy, and any usage limits or eligibility requirements they impose.

You are responsible for any charges those providers bill you for traffic that originates from Dechained on your behalf. We store BYOK credentials encrypted and use them only to authenticate requests you initiate. You may rotate or remove a credential at any time from the dashboard.

6. AI Processing

The Service forwards your requests to third-party AI providers that you choose. Once a request leaves Dechained, the receiving provider's privacy, retention, and acceptable use policies apply to the data you send. Model outputs are generated by automated systems and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsafe for some uses; you are responsible for reviewing and validating outputs before relying on them.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain all ownership rights to the prompts, inputs, and outputs that pass through the Service, subject to the terms of the upstream providers you use. We do not claim any ownership over your traffic. The Service itself, including its design, software, branding, and documentation, is owned by Dechained and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

8. Billing and Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through Stripe. All fees are stated in US dollars and are non-refundable except as expressly provided in these Terms or as required by law. Provider usage charges are billed directly to you by the provider via your BYOK credentials and are not part of the Dechained subscription fee. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice; continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing. You may cancel your subscription at any time; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we are not responsible for outages, errors, content, or behavior of upstream model providers. You should not rely solely on the Service for business-critical workloads without appropriate fallback and review.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dechained and its members, managers, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Service, including damages for loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses. Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dechained and its members, managers, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your provider credentials and the traffic you route through the Service; (c) your violation of these Terms or any applicable law; (d) your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights; or (e) any content or instructions you submit through the Service. We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense of that matter.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend your access to the Service, in whole or in part and without prior notice, if we reasonably suspect a violation of these Terms, abuse of the Service, or unauthorized use of provider credentials, while we investigate. We may terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.

13. Responsible Disclosure

If you discover a security issue in the Service itself during normal, legitimate use, we ask that you report it privately to security@dechained.ai. We appreciate good-faith reports and will make reasonable efforts to address confirmed issues promptly.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the Service prior to the change becoming effective. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised.

16. Miscellaneous

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other documents incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Dechained regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.

Force Majeure. We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemics, government actions, internet or power failures, or failures of third-party service providers.

No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be deemed a waiver of that or any other provision.
